Solutions to rising sea level:
1. The best solution to sea level rise is to stop the sea from rising.
This would require international cooperation to reduce global greenhouse
gas emmissions, an to restore forests, which serve as carbon sinks,
reducing greenhouse gas emmisions.
If global warming is not prevented, and the ice caps and glaciers melt,
It would be impractical to attempt to protect every coastal city in the
world with sea walls, as when the ice caps and glaciers do melt,
the sea levels would rise to more than 70 metres (twice the height
of japans most recent tsunami) this would inundate cities inhabitated
by about three-fourths of the worlds population. This could be a very strong solution if
all countries contributed evenly and co-operating with eachother.
Or the simpler solution, but not as good news for the islanders homes, families, and
cultures, but a weaker solution as there is always the chance that sea levels dont destroy the islands residences
and cultural significance, and the people are evacuated for no reason. There is also the problem with this solution that there
may not be enough or any jobs or homes for the evacuee's in their new countrys.
